Students at Wickaninnish Community School are learning their Nuu-chah-nulth numbers by playing a game. First Nations Support Worker Grace George teaches the students the numbers from 1-10 then has students demonstrate their understanding in a "Slap It! " game. Divided into teams students compete to tap the correct number first. The game has additional rules and ways to earn double points and can be adapted for other grades and other vocabulary. Extremely popular with the students.
Berries is an integrated science unit which incorporates concepts from traditional Nuu-chah-nulth knowledge, Physical Education, Outdoor Education and Social Studies.
